One of the most important differences with GutterCare is the way it gets installed in your gutter. Our profile is taller so that it can be installed over the hangers and spikes. Why is that important? Because with other styles of foam being sold from competitors, they're designed to be squished under the gutter hangers creating a catch point at the nose of the gutter causing debris to be trapped. With GutterCare there isn't a catch point but rather a smooth surface across your entire gutter, eliminating that problem. Look at the picture below and see how GutterCare allows for debris to slide off as a result of a surface that is slightly taller the the nose of the gutter with no depressions by the hangers.
Now look at this picture of a competitors product where it get installed (squished) under the hangers or spikes. Notice where the debris is collecting. Right by the gutter nails that are holding up the gutters.

Each piece of our GutterCare with Xtremecap is hand dipped into a special UV protectant to eliminate the destructive UV rays that will destroy an untreated foam. With any gutter protection the primary goal is to take the water off of the roof into the gutters and to the downspout, without the debris. Capped type products claim to handle water effectively but they have many limitations. One key factor is to ensure they are installed correctly. Installed to far forward and water drips off of the cap and misses the gutter. Installed to far back and they easily drag the debris in along with the rain water. Then there's the gutter pitch issue causing headaches for the installer. The normal pitch of the gutter will cause issues installing and making them not to perform well. That's not even considering how they look and what color they have to be so that they don't stand out like a sore thumb.

Water flows through GutterCare even in the heaviest rainfall. If your gutters are big enough to handle the rain, GutterCare will handle the flow. With our exclusive 'WAVE' profile we have increased the amount of rain that a foam gutter protection system can handle.
Thinking of purchasing a 'capped' type gutter protection system? Capped protection systems rely on the cohesive properties of water to drip around the front edge then drip in the gutter. These systems are difficult to correctly install with little tolerance as to how far forward or back they are from front of the gutter. They also assume that the front edge stays clean so that water actually flows around the front edge of the gutter. Both of these assumptions are huge! Dirt on the front lip of their system negates the cohesion properties causing water to drip over the gutter.
Another huge downside is that capped products can actually create icicles in the winter. GutterCare will not be the cause of the icicles! In fact, companies that sell those 'capped type' gutter protection systems also sell heating devices for your gutters to help eliminate the icing issue, which they've caused. Now you have to pay for the heating device and the additional electrical costs.

Understand that there are huge differences in foam products that are being offered for gutter protection. GutterCare is a high tech open celled (so as not to hold water like a sponge) exterior grade, polyether foam constructed to rigid standards. Two important criteria's for foam gutter protection are porosity (PPI) and stiffness (ILD). Insuring the foam is porous enough to allow vast amounts of water to pass through it and stiff enough to endure the weight of ice and snow. Since GutterCare is an open celled construction, it will not hold water. If it doesn't hold water, it won't freeze into a block of ice and expand. In fact, because it's black it absorbs the radiant heat of the sun, it's one of the first things to melt so your gutters will keep flowing.
